Results for a portion of the zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections in Punjab were declared on Wednesday, showing the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the lead.
AAP Punjab president and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said the results declared so far were in the party’s favour, adding that early trends reflected public support for the Punjab government’s policies.
Polling was held on December 14 to elect members from 347 zones of 22 zila parishads and 2,838 zones of 153 panchayat samitis.
At 8 am, the counting of ballot papers started at 154 counting centres across the state.
